Healthy lifestyle...

How is that possible???

  1. Eat a balanced diet with all the essential nutrients in the correct proportion
  2. Control calorie intake and check on weight
  3. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes or walk up stairs rather than on lift or escalator
  4. Reduce fast food consumption and go for the freshly cooked ones
  5. Try out new dishes and know your limit
  6. Regularly check on Body Mass Index (BMI)
  7. Never demotivate yourself if things don't turn out to what you expect...there should be something that went wrong...try to figure it out or just move on without stressing yourself
  8. Be content and happy with whatever you are given
  9. Stop smoking and drinking alcoholic drinks
  10. Eat at a specific time
  11. Stay positive and handle everything calmly
  12. Spend time with your loved ones
  13. Meditate
  14. Never do things in a hurry
With that, surely healthy life is not impossible...

Fast Food

Of late, fast food restaurants have been mushrooming in our country due to many reasons. Perhaps, very few people have time to cook healthy dishes nowadays. Even though, fast food restaurants are said to be bad for health, nobody seem to be cared as we can see that the fast food outlets are having customers non stop.

Well, why fast foods are unhealthy?
  • High content of fats and oil
  • High calorie content
  • High content of salt
  • High content of sugar
Fast food invites many disastrous disease if it is consumed frequently. It's true that fast foods sound perfect and just nice for anyone in hurry, those who don't have time to prepare their own meal. Be aware that we are bringing in diabetes, hypertension, obesity and many other cardiovascular disease. Obviously, the effects can't be seen now, though, sooner or later we will be facing all those if fast food is being consumed more frequently.

Nowadays, people are rushing here and there with loads of work that they merely have time for exercise. So this aggravates the problem since we have no time to exercise and we are also consuming more fast food. We need to exercise daily for at least 30 minutes no matter what we consume. Surely, most of us know the endless benefits exercise brings us.....

So yeah...in short, try to reduce fast food consumption and exercise daily for a better tomorrow..

It's ON CHOCOLATES....

Why is it till now we just can't stop our self from giving it a try whenever we see chocolates...?
Something I have thought of from little...The urge to try chocolate will somehow bring us to get at least one small cube of the whole bar even when mum tries her very best hiding the chocolate bars from us...Whenever whoever buys us chocolate we tend to relax and cool off ...We even feel so happy as the chocolate melts in our mouth...hmm...I have no reason why..There are many chocolates of various brands available in markets namely, Toblerone, Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury, Hershey and etc.

Everything starts from cocoa seed...With some basic knowledge on chocolate production from agriculture class I'm going to give some further details on this chocolate production.

The ripe cocoa pods which are normally yellow, orange or red in color are harvested and split open to get their seeds. The seeds are then fermented for about 7 days in a wooden container and then sun dried for 2-3 days to reduce the moisture content. The dried seeds are now called cocoa beans. The dried seeds are ground to get the cocoa powder which is an ingredient in making chocolate bars, pastries or drinks.

For chocolate making the requirements are cocoa paste (a mixture of cocoa powder and water), cocoa butter, milk and sugar. These components are thoroughly mixed to get a dark, thick and creamy mixture. From the processing of this mixture, we get our chocolates. To diversify the taste and flavor of chocolate bars fruits and nuts namely almond, raisins, cashew nut and macadamia nuts.

Although chocolate are said to be bad for health, there are researches to say that they do bring health benefits too...and yeah so that's it on chocolates...

World Food Day

Hi there,
Today, let's update with something interesting...

How many of us know that 16th October has been celebrated as the World Food Day?

Well...World Food Day is celebrated on 16th October every year all around the world so as to remember the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The day has been celebrated in many ways by people living in many countries with different themes every year. In 1981, the theme was Food Comes First....till of late as "Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty" in 2015.  This celebration also has a purpose of raising awareness on poverty and hunger faced by many people in the world.

World population has been on rise of late and the need for food supply is increasing tremendously. As for those affordable ones, they can pay as much as they could to get food supply for their family. Unfortunately for those who are not capable of buying food for their family, they have no other choice than to borrow money or food and some are even let to starve. We know that there are still countries with its citizens starving and even dying of hunger for they lack food supply. These people are not only starving and dying solely due to lack of food, but they die due to malnutrition which brings in many serious health problems. People living in a state of poverty have not much choice other than to wait for food supply to be donated. For this purpose, soup kitchen has been playing their role all this while to remedy the situation.

So..we should be thankful for having a plate of meal on our table and NEVER WASTE FOOD as there are many people in need of it...

Crunchy Murukku

Before we go on…Happy Diwali to all those celebrating out there…
This festival will remind all of us to the crunchy snack called murukku. Well the name itself is from Tamil, which means twist. Originated from India, murukku is well known even in Malaysia, Singapore and in many parts of the world with high Indian population.

Murukku is made from rice flour and urad dal flour.  There are people who prefer to buy readily packed flour with all the ingredients in correct proportions and just left for us to make the dough and fry, although there are people who opt to make their own flour by grinding with grinding stone which according to them, makes the murukku even tastier.

Well, murukku is made by making dough with the rice flour, urad dal flour, salt, water and sesame seeds or cumin seeds. This dough is later on made into many shapes, normally spiral, by hand or mould and then deep fried in oil till it appears golden brown as can be seen above.

Apart from oily due to deep frying, cumin seeds in murukku has been said to contain medicinal values. So, let’s grab some for tea now...

Yummy Pizza

 Pizza...

Here comes pizza…the yummy appetizing pizza that we yearn for…

Whatever the history of pizza is and the side effects of overeating pizza is…we just don’t care till the pizza box is empty, because it’s just too nice with the tasty topping, crunchy crust and the thick and soft dough that make up the pizza. Plus, now they are having a lot of varieties for pizzas …everything just nice for tea or breakfast with our loved ones.

There’s a lot of websites available with recipes of making pizza provided by famous chefs. Although some of us prefer making our own pizza based on recipes, yet most of us still depend on the fast food outlets for it is more fast and convenient.
Originated from Naples in Italy, pizza has made its way into many countries and according to statistics, Norwegian consume the most pizza followed by Germans... Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s are always the famous spot for pizza cravers for fast and tasty pizzas in Malaysia.

Well known for its topping with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, pizza has its harmful effects too, sadly. Well, of course we can’t expect benefits from fast foods like pizza as it contains excessive salt, fat and food energy which is a cause for concern. Hopefully, with regular exercise and a balanced diet…we can still go on with this yummy pizza on and off..
